It’s a true Hollywood story!

After Taylor Swift was subpoenaed by Justin Baldoni’s legal team in his case against Blake Lively, the pop star’s spokesperson spoke very clearly about her lack of involvement with It Ends With Us.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,” Swift’s representative told TMZ on May 9.

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’” her rep continued.  “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

The legal battle puts Swift in an uncomfortable position with Lively and perhaps Travis Kelce’s Instagram unfollow of Ryan Reynolds signaled the tension. Still, there might be more A-list subpoenas to come, according to the Daily Mail.

The media outlet is claiming that not only will Kelce see a subpoena in the case, but also Hugh Jackman. Jackman’s possible involvement in the case would revolve around Deadpool & Wolverine. Reynolds played Nicepool in the film and gave an alleged “mocking depiction” of Baldoni and his “man bun” hairstyle. It’s unclear why Swift’s boyfriend might be dragged into the legal case.

Lively’s attorney Mike Gottlieb pushed back on Baldoni’s legal team making any connection between Swift, Jackman, or Kelce in his client’s sexual harassment case against Baldoni.

“You have to ask the question, then, why are these people being subpoenaed?” Gottlieb told People on May 8. “Do they have any actual relevance to the case at hand? You can’t just go around subpoenaing people because they’re famous and you think it will generate a bunch of headlines. And the federal courts don’t tolerate that kind of behavior.”

The legal system will decide if these A-list testimonies are needed, but the actions put a lot of pressure on Lively’s friendship with Swift. It’s a situation that no one may win in the end.
