SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), May 9 (SeeNews) – The share indices of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s two stock exchanges, the Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) and the Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE), ended mixed this week, as turnover grew driven by government bond auctions, bourse data showed.

    This week, the Sarajevo bourse traded all five days, while the Banja Luka bourse was closed on May 9 due to a public holiday in the Serb Republic. Both bourses were closed on May 1 and 2 for Labour day last week.

    Total turnover on the SASE came in at 50.7 million marka ($29.2 million/25.9 million euro) this week, driven by a seven-year Treasury note issue worth 50 million euro. The bourse did not publish a weekly report for the previous week.

    Reinsurance company Bosna Reosiguranje [SAJ:BSRS] generated the highest single turnover on the bourse – of 50,120 marka. Its shares closed at 2,506 marka on Friday, up from 2,433 marka a week earlier.

    The SASE’s BIFX, which monitors investment funds, closed at 506.96 points on Friday, down 0.50% compared with the end of the previous week.

    The bourse’s main equity index SASX-10 index rose 0.13% to 1,371.87 points, while the unweighted SASX-30 index edged up 0.62% to finish at 2,516.18 points.

    The SASX-BBI, an Islamic stock index developed in partnership between SASE and Bosna Bank International (BBI), gained 0.05% to end at 13,659.89 points.

    The SASX-Fundamentals (SASX-FN) index, tracking the top 15 companies by operating profit, declined 0.13% to 24,932.89 points.

    On the Banja Luka bourse, total turnover jumped to 120.4 million marka in four trading days this week from 459,283 marka in three days the previous week. The government of the Serb Republic sold a total of 120.3 million marka worth of government securities in two auctions held on May 5.

    State-controlled electricity distributor Elektro Doboj [BANJ:ELDO] generated the largest trading turnover, of some 13,450 marka, on the BLSE’s official market this week. The company’s shares closed at 1 marka on Friday, down 18% compared with the end of the previous week.

    The 12-share BIRS equity index on the Banja Luka bourse went down 2.11% to end at 853.77 points.

    The SASE operates in the Federation, whereas the BLSE operates in the Serb Republic. The Federation and the Serb Republic are Bosnia’s two autonomous entities.
