Slovenian Geoplin, a member of the Petrol Group, and Algerian national gas producer Sonatrach have extended their gas supply contract, further strengthening their cooperation.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Robert Golob, and the President of the Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Algeria supplied Slovenia with 300 million cubic metres of gas per year under a three-year agreement signed in 2023, which was increased to 500 million cubic metres last year. Algerian gas is piped to Slovenia via Tunisia and Italy.

The agreement is also strategically important for Algeria, as Sonatrach expands its presence in the Slovenian energy market while responding to growing demand for natural gas in Europe.

The cooperation between the two companies not only strengthens Algeria’s presence on the international stage but also confirms its commitment to further expanding and strengthening areas of bilateral economic cooperation.
