The road to the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup is open as teams from around the globe are preparing all summer for the tournament that starts on Aug. 22. 

And that include the Black Ferns of New Zealand and Rugby Canada. 

The No. 2 team in the world, Canada, and the No. 3 team, the Black Ferns of New Zealand, are both among the favorites to win it all when they get to the UK, which is home to the No. 1 team in the world, England. 

The Black Ferns, which saw its Women’s Rugby 7 team win gold at the 2024 Olympics, has a tough back-to-back slate of matches with Canada at 11:25 p.m. Today in Christchurch, New Zealand and the United States at 11:25 p.m. on May 23.

The Black Ferns are coming off a 38-12 win over rival Australia on May 10 that started their international season. Canada, meanwhile, beat USA in Kansas City 26-14 on May 2 to start the summer season.
