SKOPJE (N. Macedonia), May 19 (SeeNews) – The European Commission (EC) said on Monday it has raised its growth forecast for North Macedonia’s economy for 2025 to 3% from 2.6% projected in November.

North Macedonia’s economic growth is expected to slightly accelerate to 3.1% in 2026, the EC said in its Spring 2025 Economic Forecast report.

Economic growth will be supported by major public infrastructure projects and by household consumption, which benefits from strong wage growth and abating inflation, the Commission said.

Risks to the growth outlook stem from weaker domestic demand, as high wage growth may dampen consumption and the major road construction projects face risks due to limited progress in public investment management.

Inflation is projected to remain above 2% in 2025 and 2026, with potential domestic price pressures from wage and credit growth.

North Macedonia’s economy expanded by 2.8% in 2024, after growing by 2.1% the previous year, the government has said earlier.
