In response to the ongoing political stalemate in the Kosovo Assembly, civil society organizations staged a symbolic protest today by placing 120 empty chairs outside the Parliament building, reflecting the number of seats in the legislature.

The protest aimed to express public frustration over the Assembly’s dysfunction. Some of the chairs featured placards with messages like:

“Politicians have stopped the clock,” “The Assembly is non-functional—please try again later,” “This is not a TV series, this is our state,” and “The circus of democracy.”

The chair representing the speaker of the Assembly bore a single word: “Enough!”

Eugen Cakolli from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) called the situation paradoxical and deeply concerning.

Meanwhile, Rrezarta Krasniqi urged all political parties to engage in meaningful dialogue to break the deadlock. She also announced that larger protests are being planned.

As part of the demonstration, small clocks were placed beside the chairs to symbolize the passage of time since the parliamentary elections held on February 9, emphasizing that valuable time is being lost due to the political impasse.
