The Albanian Publishers Association organizes a conference on publishing piracy in North Macedonia

The Albanian Publishers Association will organize a press conference on the topic “The recurring phenomenon of piracy in publications” at the Babel Bookstore (near the Pyramid), on Thursday, May 29, at 11.00:XNUMX.
The President of the Publishers Association, Petrit Ymeri, announced the conference that will be organized and the reasons that prompted this conference to be held.
The association aims to inform and raise awareness about this phenomenon that continues to have a dramatic impact on the publishing sector, taking its cue from an alarming situation, verified in North Macedonia, where thousands of copies of books printed without copyright were purchased from a pirate printing house in Tetovo with funds from the municipality of Tetovo.
The Mayor of Tetova, in several ceremonies, has donated books to the libraries of Tetova’s high schools, which will be used there for years to come.
All books are prepared and published by Albanian publishers. In addition to the economic harm, pirated books are printed with poor typographic quality, thus offering students poor quality books and damaging the professional image of Albanian publishing houses.
For those who do business with stolen goods, legal punitive measures should be taken by the relevant institutions, because they are committing a criminal offense.
