Malta is officially on the list for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, which will be held in Austria. Alongside its confirmation, PBS (Public Broadcasting Services) has announced the return of the Malta Eurovision Music Exchange Camp, set to take place for the third consecutive year.
This songwriting camp has quickly become a cornerstone of Malta’s Eurovision strategy, offering a collaborative space where Maltese artists work alongside local and international composers and producers. Its primary goal is to create entries for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) — the country’s national selection for Eurovision.
Applications Open Until June 5
Artists wishing to participate in this year’s camp can submit their applications until June 5, 2025, at 18:00 CEST. The camp itself will be held from June 15 to 24, bringing together fresh talent and experienced professionals for an intensive creative process.
Last year’s edition was highly productive, generating 18 songs for MESC, while 40% of those involved also contributed to Eurovision entries for other countries in 2025 — a testament to the camp’s growing impact.
A Blend of Local and International Talent
The songwriting line-up for 2025 includes prominent Maltese names such as:
-
Dav Jr and Jean-Paul of The Busker (Eurovision Malta 2023),
-
Peter Borg,
-
Christina Magrin (Junior Eurovision 2016),
-
Sarah Bonnici (Malta 2024),
-
Cyprian Cassar, Muxu, Emil Calleja Bayliss, and Gerard James Borg.
They will be joined by internationally acclaimed writers including:
-
Linnea Deb, co-writer of several Eurovision entries including Sweden’s winning song “Heroes” in 2015,
-
Marcus Winter John,
-
Melanie Wehbe, who co-wrote Denmark’s entries in 2019, 2024 and 2025,
-
Bas Wisnik, Patrik Jean, and Abi Jones.
With its growing reputation and impressive track record, the Malta Eurovision Music Exchange Camp continues to play a vital role in shaping not only Malta’s Eurovision entries, but also the wider landscape of the contest.
