The Great Julio César Chávez wanted to do his part in the fight against a terrible disease that claims the most lives worldwide.
The Mexican boxing legend was the star of the charity evening held in Madrid, Spain, for “Cris Contra el Cáncer,” which auctioned off various sports artifacts to raise funds for research into the disease. Funds raised reached up to 70,000 euros.
Featuring a Mexican-style mariachi group, the gala brought together big names from the world of sports, such as Sandor Martín or Javier Castillejo, as well as other celebrities such as Omar Montes and actress Carlota Boza.
During the dinner, six amateur boxing matches took place, adding a special touch to the evening of charity.
After the boxers’ matches, various items were auctioned off, including a motorcycle helmet signed by Marc Márquez and a guitar also signed by Hombres G.
One of the star pieces was a pair of gloves signed by Chávez, who himself went up to present them to the winner after saying a few words, reinforced by his characteristic smile.
