New border crossing between Greece and North Macedonia to be inaugurated

The Interreg project BorPres2, a cross-border project between Greece and North Macedonia, will be officially inaugurated at 12 noon on Thursday at the Prespes Town Hall in Lemos, northern Greece, by Interior Minister Theodoros Livanios.

The project will establish a new border crossing between the Greek town of Lemos in the Florina prefecture and North Macedonia’s Markova Noga and comes under the Interreg IPA Cross Border Cooperation Program Greece-North Macedonia 2021-2027.

According to Interreg, which is co-funded by the EU, BorPres2 is an operation of strategic importance with a total budget of 7.5 million euros and a timeline of 36 months.

It includes the construction of a customs and police station in Greece, the upgrade of facilities and equipment of the existing police station in North Macedonia, and the creation and promotion of a cross-border footpath that will link Agios Germanos with Brajchino.
