Hysen Gecaj, a former soldier, said that Kosovo is no longer an easy target for its opponents, especially after the guilty plea of Serbian BIA agent Aleksandar Vlajić, who was sentenced today to 5 years in prison.

He said that the arrest and subsequent conviction of the Serbian BIA agent is an extremely important message.

According to him, this case shows that Kosovo is no longer what it once was, as its security capacities have been elevated in terms of professionalism.

“Kosovo’s security institutions have reached a high level of development in terms of protection and possible prevention of foreign intelligence interventions in whatever form they may take,” he said, at FIVE. RTV Dukagjini.

Further, Gecaj said that Serbia, since 1999, has been trying to build a base in the Republic of Kosovo where it could easily intervene.

While, lawyer Arber Jashari, spoke about the guilty plea of Serbian BIA agent Aleksandar Vlajic, who was sentenced today to 5 years in prison.

Jashari said that pleading guilty is a strategic decision by the defense, which has benefits for both the defendant and the prosecutor, as well as for the court.

“This is a historic decision, regardless of whether it is with an admission of guilt or in any other form, given that for the first time, perhaps in this form, a person is being punished who has been proven in the first instance to have committed the criminal offense of espionage. It is known that these criminal offenses are among the criminal offenses against the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo, with a high risk to public order and security,” he said.

Lawyer Jashari added that until now it has been assumed, and thought, that foreign services have acted or are acting in Kosovo, but as of today, according to him, we have a court decision and a person convicted of such a highly dangerous offense.

He further said that today’s court decision against the Serbian BIA agent shows above all the good work of the KIA and other security institutions in the country, but also of the justice institutions. /Dukagjini/
