Serbia is continuing to detain and arrest Kosovo citizens.
Most recently, Arbnor Spahiu, a former member of the Kosovo Police Special Operations Unit, was detained on June 7 at the Horgosh border crossing by Serbian authorities. After being detained in Horgosh, he was taken to the detention center in Kanjiza.
The news was announced by his lawyer, Arianit Koci, who said that although Spahiu has not been part of the Kosovo Police for three years and lives in Germany, he has been questioned in connection with the “Banjska” case.
In a Facebook post, Koci highlighted that Arbnor Spahiu was not in police service at the time the incident occurred and noted that his detention appears to be a reaction to recent revelations of espionage within Kosovo’s security institutions.
“This case is serious and not isolated,” he wrote.
Koci further recalled that a few days ago a former Serbian policeman, Aleksandar Vlajic, pleaded guilty to working for the Serbian secret service (BIA) and was convicted of espionage.
The lawyer warned that Spahiu’s detention is an attempt to intimidate and punish former members of Kosovo’s security structures, sending a clear message that transit through Serbia remains dangerous.
“This is a clear signal to all citizens of Kosovo: passing through Serbia is not without risks. You know that a few days ago, a former MP was also detained. After several hours of questioning, he was released,” Koci wrote.
He urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Liaison Office in Belgrade and relevant institutions to react urgently, warning that silence could encourage further unjust detentions.
“I don’t leave anyone alone – with all the opportunities and professional capacity I have. State culture, patriotism begins right there – with the protection of its people/citizens,” the lawyer emphasized. /Telegraph/
