The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MFAD) has reacted after the tragic event in Austria, where 11 people lost their lives as a result of gunfire at a school in the city of Graz.
Among the victims is suspected to be a girl of Kosovo origin.
The MFA announced that through the Kosovo Embassy in Austria it is in constant contact with the competent Austrian authorities regarding the serious crime that occurred today.
According to official information received by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in Vienna, 10 people — six women and four men — lost their lives as a result of the shooting, including the suspected perpetrator of the attack, who is suspected of having committed suicide inside the school premises.
Austrian police have so far confirmed that among the victims there is only one foreign national of Polish origin, while the others are Austrian citizens.
Also, according to official data, there are no citizens from Kosovo among the injured.
“However, according to unofficial sources, it is suspected that among the victims may be a minor of Kosovo origin, identified as LB, born in Austria in 2010,” the reaction states.
Austrian authorities have not yet released a full official list of victims, due to the sensitivity of the case and the age of those involved.
The MFA said it will continue to closely monitor developments and will inform the public about any official news.
