Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has reacted to the arrest of Kosovo citizen Arbnor Spahiu by Serbian authorities, describing this action as arbitrary and politically motivated.

Osmani said that the arrests of Kosovo citizens by Serbia while crossing the border are actions similar to those of the chauvinist regimes of the ’90s.

“Serbia is not interested in human rights, nor international conventions, nor European standards. As is being proven more and more every day, the only mindset that suits it is that of dictatorships with the spirit of the past,” Osmani declared.

She stressed that Spahiu’s arrest was made on completely false charges and has nothing to do with the rule of law, but with the practices of a regime that refuses to face the past and that misuses the law to threaten the citizens of Kosovo.

The President demanded an immediate halt to what she called Serbia’s “campaign of political arrests,” describing this as a danger to efforts for dialogue and normalization of relations.

“Serbia must be held internationally accountable for its arbitrary actions,” Osmani stressed.

Osmani announced that Kosovo has had continuous contacts with the Liaison Office in Belgrade and has requested the reaction of the Quint states and the EU Mission so that these violations do not go unpunished.

Finally, the President reiterated the call to Kosovo citizens to avoid passing through Serbia, considering these arrests as part of the destabilizing tendencies of the Serbian state. /Telegrafi/
