Spain’s European Union-harmonised 12-month inflation rate was 2% in May, final data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Friday, slightly above a first reading of 1.9% released two weeks ago.
The inflation rate though was at its lowest since October after prices of tourism packages, fuels and air tickets fell during the month, INE said.
The May Spanish inflation rate was aligned with the European Central Bank target and was close to the 1.9% rate in the group of 20 countries sharing the euro.
Spanish core inflation, which strips out volatile fresh food and energy prices, was 2.2% year-on-year, from 2.4% in the period through April, also slightly above the flash reading, the INE data showed.
The national inflation rate was also 1.9%, also 0.1 percentage point below the flash reading two weeks ago.
