Burrell opens $2 million Marshfield clinic

Burrell Behavioral Health will open its $2 million clinic in Marshfield to new and established clients starting Monday, June 16.

The 5,210-square foot clinic is located at 1069 Banning St. and offers addiction recovery services, community services, adult outpatient, youth outpatient, adult psychiatry, youth psychiatry and telehealth services. The new clinic will be accessible from Interstate 44 to people from surrounding communities and is larger in scope and size than Burrell’s previous Marshfield clinic.

Clay Goddard, Southwest Region president of Brightli, Burrell’s parent company, said the expansion is part of a system-wide effort to offer more behavioral health care access to rural residents. A nationwide 2021 survey found more than one in five adults (22.7%) in rural areas reported having a mental illness, and that accessibility and availability of behavioral health services are among the top challenges rural residents face.

“This clinic speaks to Burrell Behavioral Health’s continued commitment to providing quality care and addressing challenges in Webster County and other rural communities in southwest Missouri,” Goddard said. “We’re excited to be able to meet people in Marshfield where they are.”

Corps of Engineers cuts back hours at Table Rock visitor center

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced it is temporarily cutting hours at Dewey Short Visitor Center and other services at Table Rock Lake due to staffing shortages and safety concerns.

As of June 13, the Dewey Short Visitor Center hours have been reduced to Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Summer school groups and other special tour requests can still be made by calling (417) 213-4812 or emailing TR.CESWL-TR@usace.army.mil. Visitor center staff will schedule requests from school groups promptly so a park ranger can be on-site.

Because of the need to refocus available staff to support the peak recreation season, Shoreline Use Permit requests including dock and vegetative management requests will experience delays.
