The Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted amendments to the law on petroleum derivatives, significantly tightening fuel quality standards on the market. According to the Ministry’s statement, this will provide consumers with access to higher-quality fuels under stricter supervision, which contributes to the protection of health, the environment, and vehicles, and ensures compliance with European standards.
The amendment includes permitting fuel additives, which were previously prohibited, introducing control over LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), expanding the supervision and monitoring of petroleum derivatives, and updating misdemeanor provisions in line with the new regulations.
“With these legal amendments, we are removing outdated norms and creating the conditions for the adoption of a new rulebook that will be fully aligned with European standards,” said Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vederan Lakić. “The Federation of BiH must no longer be a place where poor-quality fuels can be found on the market.”
