American professor Charles Kupchan, who is also part of the US Council on Foreign Relations, spoke in an interview for T7 about the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and was asked about the possibility of returning to the idea of exchanging territories, writes Gazeta Express.

Kupchan said he does not believe that the Donald Trump Administration will push forward the idea of exchanging territories if there is no interest in such a thing from the parties themselves, Kosovo and Serbia.

“I don’t believe the Trump administration will push forward with the idea of a territorial exchange if Pristina and Belgrade themselves are not interested in reopening that discussion. So, I think we just have to wait and see in which direction the dialogue will go,” Kupchan said.

He further said that he does not believe that there will be a significant US role in the Balkans during Trump’s term, given that he wants Europe to mind its own business more.

“Trump has his hands full, doesn’t he? There’s a full-scale war going on in Ukraine. There’s another full-scale war going on in the Middle East. There are trade wars going on as a result of his tariff policy. And he’s made it clear that he wants Europe to do more to take care of its own security. So I don’t think we’ll see a prominent American role in the Balkans during Trump’s second term,” he said./GazetaExpress/
