‘The Sweetest’ Country Singer’s ‘Awkward’ Meet-and-Greet Moment Goes Viral originally appeared on Parade.
Anslee Davidson, a former American Idol contestant and up-and-coming country singer, earned herself several new fans after she shared a video of an “awkward” meet-and-greet moment on TikTok.
The young singer, whose time on the reality series was cut short at 16 after she tested positive for COVID during the season, uploaded a clip from this year’s CMA Fest on the social media platform over the weekend.
“Are you guys here for the meet and greet?” a voice off camera could be heard, as Davidson and her team looked around the room.
“Yes!” they all answered in unison, with the venue employee quickly directing them to the line where fans were queuing to meet her.
Davidson looked a bit confused before one of her colleagues said, “She’s the artist,” prompting the artist to agree, “Oh, I’m the artist!”
“I’m so sorry,” the man apologized quickly, placing his hands on her arms for emphasis, but Davidson quickly replied, “No, it’s okay! Hi, I’m Anslee,” with a giant smile.
“I mean… I was there for the meet & greet!” she quipped in the caption.
Fans—both old and new—were touched by her “humble” response to the misunderstanding, with several complimenting, “You handled it so well!”
“Well you are just the sweetest!!” someone else gushed, with another agreeing, “What a sweet gal.”
“You handled it perfectly! A little awkward… but A LOT funny!!!! 😂😂😂,” another applauded.
“Please always stay this humble and kind 🥰,” somebody else praised.
Several found themselves brand new fans of the “Half the Man” singer over the interaction, with one admitting, “Never heard of you before (I don’t venture from my playlists much lol) but your kindness here won me over. You have a new fan!”
“I don’t know you yet, but you have a new fan,” another reiterated. “Always stay real like that regardless [sic] of how famous you get!”
“’Oh I’m the artist’ goes so hard,” one final fan quipped, while another begged her, “Pls get a baby tee made for yourself that says ‘oh, I’m the artist.'”
It certainly makes for a unique piece of merch.
