The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) today adopted the Draft Report on North Macedonia prepared by Austrian MEP Thomas Weitz with 40 votes in favor, 19 against and 10 abstentions.

After the document was approved, Waitz expressed satisfaction that it had been voted for by a broad political majority.

“I am proud of all the hard work that went into finding compromises so that we could adopt this well-balanced report with a broad political majority. The EU must stand united with its neighbours in the challenging geopolitical landscape we face.”

“North Macedonia belongs to the EU. After 20 years of negotiations, we must maintain the current good momentum to further advance the enlargement process,” Waitz said.

The report will now be submitted to the European Parliament for a vote during the next plenary session. /Telegraph/
