Bolton: A solution cannot be imposed from outside on Kosovo and Serbia if the parties do not want it

John Bolton, former National Security Advisor to US President Donald Trump, has said that there will be no solution to the issue between Kosovo and Serbia if the parties do not want it.
On A2 CNN, he said that resolving disputes cannot be forced from outside if the parties do not want it, while bringing to attention the case of North Macedonia.
“There will be no solution until the parties reach a point where they understand that it is not in their interest to continue the conflict, and I don’t think you can force this from the outside. We had the security advisor and to have the possibility of an agreement but everything is on the table now and it is not going to be easy,” he stated.
“But we know that even conflicts that seem irreconcilable, even on issues that are difficult for someone from the outside to understand, for example in the case of Macedonia, by insisting we found solutions and I don’t see why this can’t work for Kosovo and Serbia,” Bolton said in an interview with A2CNN.
