Australian shares were poised to open largely muted on Monday, as investors stayed on the sidelines ahead of retail sales data due on Wednesday and the Reserve Bank of Australia’s policy meeting next week.
The local share price index futures (YAPcm1) were largely unchanged at a 6.8-point premium to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index XJO close. The benchmark fell 0.4% on Friday.
New Zealand’s benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index NZ50G edged 0.1% lower to 12,566.83 points in early trade.
