Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Monday, during a cabinet meeting, the addition of “Artificial Intelligence” to the title of the Ministry of Digital Governance.
The new name will be Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence.
At the same meeting, minister Dimitris Papastergiou presented a strategic plan for artificial intelligence, which includes the creation of a Secretariat for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance.
According to sources, the renaming reflects the growing need to balance innovation and regulation amid the rapid global expansion of AI technologies.
The ministry has already launched a €25 million program aimed at integrating AI solutions into the public sector.
