Today marks the 40th attempt to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo

MPs will attempt for the 40th time, today at 11:00, to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo.
Under the leadership of Speaker Avni Dehari, the constitutive session of the Assembly continued its work on Sunday.
Chairman Dehari asked the political entities that have not proposed names for members of the electoral commission for the election of the Speaker of the Assembly, by secret ballot (PDK, LDK, Serbian List and AAK-Nisma), to do so. Regarding this, there were disagreements from the deputies of PDK, LDK and AAK, respectively Vlora Çitaku, Hykmete Bajrami and Time Kadriaj.
Chairman Dehari reminded that debate is not allowed in the constitutive session. Then the composition of the committee, with the members proposed in the previous sessions, was put to a vote.
With 53 votes in favor, none against, and no abstentions, the Assembly did not have a quorum for decision-making. The chair of the session announced its continuation on Tuesday, July 1, at 11:00.
In other developments, Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, will call political party leaders to meetings in the coming days, due to the political deadlock, announced Bekim Kupina, Media Advisor to the Kosovo Presidency.
“The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, will call political party leaders to meetings in the coming days,” he confirmed.
Kupina further announced that President Osmani expects the parties represented in the Assembly to implement the Constitutional Court’s Judgment and conclude the constitutive session within 30 days, as requested by the Court.
“If the need arises, the President remains ready to address the Constitutional Court for additional clarifications,” he said.
