The following are the top stories in Malta’s newspapers on Tuesday. 

The front pages are dominated by the arraignment late on Monday of a man charged with the road rage shooting of a businessman in a quiet Bidnija street last Sunday. The accused man, a Syrian national, pleaded not guilty, but admitted to the shooting when interrogated by police. 

In other stories, Times of Malta reports that workers were evacuated after a fire at the 23-storey ST Tower in Gzira. 

The Malta Independent says the €25,000 incentive for motorists to give up their driving licence for five years is still in the planning stage, according to the transport minister. 

L-orizzont gives prominence to the final address from the bench by Judge Toni Abela, who has retired. He spoke on the qualities that make a judge – knowledge of the law, the sense of justice and serenity.
