North Macedonia wants to open a consulate in the city of Korça, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Timço Mucunski, during a visit to Pustec.

“Here in Pustec we have our Macedonian community. I came with the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Culture will join us shortly. The community has contributed to Albanian society, while we as a government must do more for the Macedonian minority in Pustec. We must finance social and cultural projects in this area. A higher consular level is needed – not only for issuing passports, but also for other aspects. Next week I will meet with my colleague Igli Hasani in Ohrid. We have a fantastic relationship with him. I will also ask the Albanian minister to open a Macedonian consulate in Korça,” said Mucunski.

Mucunski commented on the participation of Prime Ministers Edi Rama and Albin Kurti at the leaders’ summit in Skopje.

“The Albanian and Kosovar prime ministers were invited yesterday to a successful summit on the European agenda. I can say that it was a summit that went well. Political activities are normal everywhere. I am a believer in democracy. Yes, we have elections in a short time, where we as a government coalition are fully convinced that we will win because of the work done. We are a multiethnic society.”

Mucunski rejected claims that Serbia is threatening the sovereignty of North Macedonia, based on a recent European Parliament report.

“I want to emphasize that our foreign policy is based on three main points: The first is the US, I met Secretary Rubio, we have a fantastic relationship. The second is membership in the European Union. The third is membership in NATO,” said Mucunski.
