A KM Malta plane that was on its way to Catania from Malta was forced to turn back after it could not land at Fontanarossa airport.

The flight left Malta at 6:05am and was supposed to arrive in Catania at 6:45am. However, at around 6:25am it began making its way back to Malta.

According to reports, the flight KM640 could not arrive at its initial destination because the airport was closed due to a crane that malfunctioned on the runway.

Seemingly, no other flights were allowed to take off from the airport for this reason.
