The truth is that Russia is practicing a wartime production shift in its economy. They may not be able to keep up with replacing their bombers or fighters, but Russia has always had a strategy of just wearing their enemies down, even after horrific losses. He will keep grinding along until Russia eventually achieves their goal, whatever he changes it to in order to mean success. I think Putin wants at least to control the Dnipro river, and completely land lock Ukraine, then I believe he wants to take Odessa so that he can have a direct land bridge to Moldova, a place he has been trying to influence the same way as with crimea before he went in
