A person on board a Maltese-flagged fishing vessel was medically evacuated by the Armed Forces of Malta after finding themselves in need of urgent medical assistance some 78 nautical miles south-east of Malta on Friday afternoon.
The medical evacuation was coordinated by the Malta Rescue Coordination Centre, which dispatched an AFM helicopter with a rescue crew and an army doctor on board.
The patient was safely airlifted and handed over to a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.
