DUI: North Macedonia – no integration, no equality

We express serious concern about the trend of systematic exclusion of citizens from the Albanian community and other ethnic communities from public institutions.
Over the past week, hundreds of new hires have been made in dozens of state institutions and public enterprises.
According to available data, none of the employees belong to any of the communities that make up over 40% of the state’s social structure.
This pattern is not an administrative coincidence, but points to an institutionalized approach that undermines the fair representation guaranteed by the Constitution.
The result is a serious institutional asymmetry that directly undermines the functionality of the multiethnic system.
This trend develops in parallel with the stagnation of the European integration process and the state’s open rapprochement with the concept of the so-called “Serbian world”.
The state is increasingly moving away from European values of inclusiveness, equality, and transparency, moving towards a model that favors only one ethnic structure in all key spheres of public life.
The consequences are already visible: loss of trust in institutions, growing apathy among young people, and deepening ethnic divisions that endanger long-term stability.
We call for this path to be reconsidered and for the state to return to European standards, through transparent, inclusive, and fair institutions that truly reflect the multiethnic structure of the country.
