Neal McDonough Weighs in on Lawsuit With Fellow ‘Skillhouse’ Star 50 Cent (Exclusive) originally appeared on Parade.

Skillhouse may be an over-the-top horror film, but it’s causing a lot of drama behind the scenes.

After co-star Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson‘s latest lawsuit trying to block the film’s release, Neal McDonough, 59, is making his feelings clear.

“I stayed out of it,” McDonough told Parade. “I like to be Switzerland when it comes to these types of things.”

50 Cent sued GenTV owner and one of the film’s director’s, Ryan Kavanaugh, stating he never officially signed on to act in the film. He alleged that his name, image, voice and likeness were being used to promote the project as one of its stars and producers without being paid.

In the lawsuit, the rapper and actor was asking for $5M in damages. However, a judge ruled against 50 Cent’s accusations, allowing the film to be released in theaters on July 11, something McDonough says he felt would always come to fruition.

“I always knew it was going to come out,” McDonough shares. “I had faith in it. But again, not my fight. My job is to be an actor, show up and knock the ball out of the ball yard. That’s my job. Anything after that, unless I’m producing it, then it’s it’s not my job.”

“I was hoping, for Ryan’s sake, that it would hit the cinemas finally, and it finally did. So for Ryan Kavanaugh, I couldn’t be happier. He’s such an amazing guy. I love Ryan like a brother, and to see his film finally come to fruition and be on the theaters, I’m so excited for him.”

Despite the legality of it all, McDonough has nothing but love for his co-star, too.

“When he [50 Cent] came to the set, he could see that I was in my character, and he thoroughly respected that,” McDonough says. “And we got along very, very well for the time they were on set together. He’s a terrific human being and a smart, smart man. I really enjoyed spending my time with 50 Cent on the set.”

Tickets for Skillhouse are available for purchase at participating theatre box offices (theatres and participants are subject to change).
