DUI: EC report confirmed that North Macedonia is a laboratory of the influences of the “Serbian world” and Russia and China

The latest report by MEP Thomas Waitz to the European Parliament is an alarming indictment of the direction North Macedonia has taken under the ZNAM–VMRO-DPMNE–VLEN coalition government. It confirms what the DUI has been warning about for months: the country is turning into a laboratory for the most destructive anti-Western influences on the continent, the DUI said in a statement.

“According to the report, Macedonia has become a free field for Russian propaganda, dark Chinese economic influence and the transmission of these influences through political and media networks linked to the “Serbian world”. Hungary and Serbia play a mediating role, strengthening the authoritarian presence and undermining the country’s Euro-Atlantic course. Propaganda against the European Union, disseminated through local media, uses identity fears to present integration as a threat, not as a hope. Furthermore, the report raises concerns about old secret service networks that may be infiltrated and linked to foreign interests”, they say from DUI.

DUI says that instead of a serious response, this Government is silent.

“Instead of protecting the country’s institutional sovereignty and Western orientation, it allows North Macedonia to slide into isolation and instrumentalization. This is the result when power is surrendered to foreign agendas, while the state’s most important partners – the European Union and NATO – are abandoned,” they point out from there.

DUI accuses that the path this government is following is the path of isolation, institutional capture, and undermining the democratic order.
