With the tie delicately poised after the result in Oswestry, it’s still all to play for in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, as both clubs look to secure the all-important victory that would guarantee them at least six more European fixtures this summer.
Both clubs had opportunities to earn a victory at Park Hall, but it was Ben Wilson who had arguably the game’s best chance when he was denied midway through the second-half by visiting goalkeeper Baboucarr Gaye.
The Toše Proeski National Arena where the match will be played will be a familiar venue for supporters of The New Saints, as it’s the same stadium in which the JD Cymru Premier champions were defeated 5-0 by KF Shkëndija back in 2018.
Besart Ibraimi scored four of the goals on that occasion and the forward, who returned to the club last season following a spell away, was introduced as a half-time substitute in the first leg earlier this week.
It will also be a familiar venue as far as followers of the Cymru national team are concerned, as the side played there in March of this year, securing a last-gasp 1-1 draw against North Macedonia thanks to David Brooks’ stoppage time equaliser.
Five of Tuesday’s match officials hail from Kazakhstan, with the video assistant referee the sole representative from England: Sayat Karabayev (referee), Yuriy Tikhonyuk and Dmitriy Belogradov (assistant referees), Arman Ismuratov (fourth official), Michael Salisbury (video assistant referee) and Daniyar Sakhi (assistant video assistant referee).
If you aren’t making the trip to Skopje, the match will be broadcast live on S4C, as well as Sgorio’s digital platforms. Kick-off is 7pm UK time (8pm in North Macedonia).
There will also be live commentary provided courtesy of BBC Radio Shropshire, which can be accessed via BBC Sounds.
