In the latest episode of the show “Arena e Yjeve”, the guest is one of the most well-known figures in Kosovar football, Hekuran Kryeziu, former captain of the national team and former prominent midfielder in the Swiss Super League. Kryeziu recounts for the first time in detail his journey, challenges, behind-the-scenes transfers and the most memorable moments in his career.
He reveals how he started playing football at a young age, inheriting his love for the game from his family. “Everything started naturally. In our house, we always talked about football,” says Kryeziu.
One of the most interesting stories is about the failed transfer to Juventus. “Everything was ready, I even passed the medical tests. But in the end something didn’t go as planned,” he says, not hiding his disappointment at the time.
Kryeziu also talks about his experience with Luzern, the club where he played through all age groups and managed to become captain, as well as the big turning point in his career when he received the invitation to join the Kosovo National Team – an invitation that, as he says, came to him from a journalist, before Kosovo was accepted into UEFA and FIFA.
He also touches on Albania’s attempt to bring him closer to the national team, recounting the conversations he had with coaches Gianni De Biasi and Paolo Tramezzani. “I appreciate them for their approach, but my heart was telling me to go to Kosovo,” the midfielder said.
In his story, Kryeziu shares his biggest regret with the Kosovo jersey, as well as the match he will never forget. He also talks about the decision to choose Zurich over the Italian Serie A clubs and the reasons why he felt uncomfortable in Ukraine, seeking a departure.
He also reveals that he was very close to a deal with a well-known Turkish club, but everything fell through at the last moment.
Finally, Kryeziu talks about his best teammates in the National Team, his first experience as a coach, and shares his plans for the future in the world of football.
A sincere and emotional story from one of the most dedicated players that Kosovar football has ever known.
