Southgate Center Market

Southgate Center Market, a locally owned grocery store that has served the Walla Walla Valley since December 2019, is closing its doors by the end of July — or when all inventory is sold.

Brad Kelly, a part owner of the grocery store located at 905 S. Second Ave., said because of increasing costs and changes in consumer habits the business had been looking for a buyer but did not come to an agreement.

The closure and storewide sale was announced through Facebook on Monday, July 7.

    Providence St. Mary Foundation

The Providence St. Mary Foundation raised $35,000 at the May 2025 Day for the Cause golf and pickleball tournament. Since 2012, the annual charity tournament has raised $300,000 toward local women’s cancer care and awareness.

Lacey Perry, the chief philanthropy officer for Providence St. Mary Foundation, wrote in a news release, “Providence St. Mary Foundation is committed to leveraging these funds to make a meaningful difference on the community’s health and well-being.”
