Vjosa Osmani was not part of the agreement in 2019 and 2020, when the Washington Agreement was signed, and it is absurd to pretend now that there was something new, US official Richard Grenell said today.

US President Donald Trump’s envoy for special missions rejected the interpretation of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who accused Serbia of allegedly recently preparing a conflict between Belgrade and Pristina.

“Shame on you, Vjosa Osmani, for twisting the words of President Donald Trump,” Grenell wrote on the X platform.

Grenell added that Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on establishing peace between Belgrade and Pristina and economic normalization in 2019 and 2020, when the Washington Agreement was signed at the White House.

“Osmani was not part of that deal. It is absurd that he is now pretending that there was something new,” Grenell concluded.

Vjosa Osmani said during a visit to Washington that Trump prevented “the escalation of what Serbia tried to do on the border with Kosovo.”

“It was his (Trump’s) personal intervention that prevented this escalation,” the Kosovo president said during a discussion held at the Hudson Institute in Washington.

KFOR has neither confirmed nor denied claims that the Trump administration prevented Serbia’s attack on Kosovo for an unspecified period of time, which was reiterated by the President of Kosovo.
