SDSM leader Venko Filipçe says that North Macedonia has turned into Beirut, saying that crime, insecurity, and the threatening manner of governance have increased.

“Look at security, what is happening with security. The Minister of Interior shouted ‘if it were my brother, he would be held responsible’, people are dying on the streets like in Beirut and no one is held responsible. How many traffic accidents, how many murders, how many unsolved cases,” said Filipce, referring to the serious degradation of public security.

He also recalled the threats against the mayor of Skopje.

“Look at the crimes that the Mayor of Skopje is uncovering, she is being physically threatened. Where is this? Where do we live?” Filipce asked.

According to him, the message sent by the current government is dangerous and threatening.

He also highlighted the legalization of illegal buildings by minors.

“150 illegal buildings have been legalized by minors, with dozens of apartments. And no one reacts. And where are the reactions to this? The message is bad that either you are with us and you are safe, or you are not with us and you are the enemy,” Filipçe concluded.
