The European Union Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, has said that political interference in the judiciary is unacceptable, following the reaction of the acting Government. on the Supreme Court decision repealing the Administrative Instruction on fiscal devices and electronic fiscal software.
“EU Heads of Mission discussed the situation following the Supreme Court’s decision. Attacks against individual judges and political interference in the judiciary are unacceptable,” Orav wrote, as he shared the Supreme Court’s reaction post today.
The German ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, had a similar reaction.
“Full support for the EU ambassador’s stance! Such attacks against individual judges and political interference in the judiciary are absolutely unacceptable. It is the least this country needs in this already difficult political situation,” Rohde wrote.
The Supreme Court, in a decision on Tuesday, annulled the Administrative Instruction issued by the acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati. The Supreme Court says that the sworn-in MP cannot also exercise the function of an acting minister.
And the government in office reacted harshly, describing the decision as arbitrary and biased.
