IMF makes an important decision for Kosovo

FMNNN

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has removed Kosovo from the list of Fragile and Conflict-Prone Countries (FCS/FCV), following the World Bank (WB).

The Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) has reacted to this IMF decision, expressing gratitude for this “important recognition of Kosovo’s institutional progress and macro-financial stability.”

“Therefore, the IMF is increasing its engagement with fragile states, including by completing its first FCS Strategy. This Strategy aims to provide strong, well-tailored, and long-term support to help these vulnerable countries achieve macroeconomic stability, strengthen resilience, promote sustainable and inclusive growth, and emerge from fragility. While the Strategy is primarily focused on the SFC, it is also relevant for countries at risk of becoming fragile and affected by conflict – whether due to domestic factors or external shocks and consequences,” the IMF said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a week ago, the World Bank also made a decision to remove Kosovo from the list of Fragile and Conflict-Affected Countries. The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) welcomes this decision to officially remove Kosovo from the List of Fragile and Conflict-Affected Countries (FCS), also known as the FCV List (Fragile and Conflict-Affected Countries).
