ALLENDALE, Mich. — UPDATE: The power was restored for customers around 6:30 a.m.

An outage in Allendale has left over 2,500 customers with Consumers Energy without power Thursday morning.

According to the utility company’s outage map, the outage was first reported shortly after 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning and is affecting 2,532 customers.

The outage is centered around Allendale, but extends into other parts of central Ottawa County.

Consumers Energy lists the cause of the outage as “trees” and has a crew assigned to the outage with an estimated restoration time of 9 a.m. Thursday.

The community is encouraged to watch for downed wires and crews working along the roads. Be sure to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines.

Anyone who sees an unguarded downed power line should first call 911, then Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050.
