Zac Brown Band fans were caught off guard recently when the group wiped its social media accounts and then shared a cryptic video teasing a “next chapter.”

Some thought — at least briefly — it might even be the band’s way of saying it was wrapping things up. But, it turns out, it was just getting ready to make history with another big-time announcement.

That announcement?

Well, the band has announced it will play a shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Dates are Dec. 5, 6, 12 and 13, and that is slated to coincide with the release of the band’s seventh studio album, “Love & Fear.”

“Bringing our new album Love & Fear to Sphere in Las Vegas is a dream come true,” Zac Brown said. “It’s my masterpiece so far. This show is the story of my life that I have never shared, a journey through my imagination, music and stories that have defined who I am.

“All of this brought to life in the incredible immersive environment of the Sphere,” he continued. “It will be a unique experience where you can really feel every note, every word, right there with us. We can’t wait to share it with the fans.”

While Kenny Chesney recently became the first country music star to play the Sphere, Zac Brown Band will become the first country group to play the venue.

The news comes after the band first raised eyebrows by wiping its social media and posting a single highlight video last week. There was a message written out there, too, that initially had fans thinking it was all a good bye.

“There’s no way to sum up what the last chapter has meant to us…” the post read. “We’ve played thousands of shows, crossed countless state lines, and seen every kind of weather and welcome you could imagine. Whether you saw us when we were playing covers in Georgia dive bars or you just found us on your drive home last month … you’ve been a part of this journey. You’ve sung the words, screamed the choruses, cried with us, danced with us, and let this music into your life. That kind of connection is not lost on us. It never will be.”

One can see why fans might have been freaking out at that point, but there was more.

“From every hand we shook, every sign we saw in the crowd, every voice lifted back to us from the front to the lawn, we felt your love,” the statement continued. “And we gave it right back, night after night. This isn’t goodbye. It’s a thank you. A reflection.

“The next chapter?” it continued. “It’s the biggest one yet. We’ll see you there.”
