  1. >European youngsters will be able to move to the UK for more than a year under a youth mobility scheme, the minister in charge of Britain’s relationship with the EU has indicated.

    >This would mean that they would count towards Britain’s official immigration figures, which include anyone who moves to the UK for more than 12 months.

    >Yvette Cooper, the home secretary, is understood to have been pushing for the scheme to be limited to 12 months in order to prevent the scheme adding to immigration numbers.

    >However, a key demand of EU countries is for a scheme that allows youngsters aged 18-30 to move to the UK for more than 12 months.

Just as unemployment is rising and new graduates are struggling to get a job, Starmer has decided to put the boot in and crush that generation by importing a lot more competition for them.

Also, last week the govt revealed that a staggering **700,000** EU citizens were on Universal Credit. Rather than importing more EU people, the govt should prod the ones here claiming bennies to get off their backsides and find a job.

Lol why would they? With the way this country is going itll be illegal to access the internet because “they have foreign connections” or something insanely silly.

Take it from a “European Teenager” myself. Im moving AWAY from this place as soon as i can

AI is destroying thousands of entry level jobs.
Immigrants are coming in their thousands on skilled visa to do jobs.
Graduates and school leavers are facing unemployment
Then your going to allow any 18-30 year old to come here? They will be coming in their thousands each month because unemployment is worse in Europe.

Because, of course, can’t not be racist through giving preferential treatment for longer than 5 years.

*it won’t be the Europeans pictured in the photo – it’ll be the new Europeans that do deliveroo and steak your phone

Another concession and nothing in return for the UK master negotiator Starmer strikes again

  7. Seeing the comments here is depressing and shows people have not read the article, or don’t have a shred of common sense.

The byline in the article literally states its a reciprocal arrangement. While young Europeans can come here, young Brits will also be able to go to Europe. To get jobs, skills, maybe even find a life for themselves.

They would not get this opportunity if we did not offer something similar in return. Its called international diplomacy, where in exchange for something that is good for your own people, you have to give something in return. This offer sounds sensible, though that does not mean that the EU will accept it.

But no. Lets be misers about it. Because its not perfect and there is potentially some downsides we must not do it. I mean, the young people have accepted a few good kickings in recent years. It will build character if we give them another one.

No wonder the country is such a mess if this is the prevailing attitude.

How tone deaf is this man? Days after a blunder came to light that has now left the UK and taxpayer to deal/house/support Afghanis at a cost of £7bn? Playing in to Reform’s hands.

  9. Glad this is finally happening! Title is a bit misleading though, it also gives us the right to live and work in EU countries for two years. Not quite a return to freedom of movement but at least a step in the right direction
