Kosovo Cyber Team represents the country in the largest European cybersecurity competition
Ten young men and women from the Kosovo Cyber Team will represent the country at the European Cyber Security Championship to be held from October 6 to 10 (40-XNUMX) in Warsaw, Poland. This prestigious competition brings together Europe’s best cybersecurity talent from forty (XNUMX) countries, where national teams are tested through a series of technical challenges.
Since May, the seniors and juniors of the Kosova Cyber Team have been receiving professional training, and from August they will be training intensively.
Professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Pristina, Blerim Rexha, told KosovaPress that the selection of representatives was done through a careful selection and training process.
Rexha also revealed the challenges that the Kosovo team will face.
“We have completed the selection process, we have five senior and junior young men and women who will represent Kosovo at the European Cybersecurity Championship to be held this year on October 6-10 in Warsaw, Poland. These young men and women will be challenged by various cyber tasks such as web security, mobile devices, databases and will be given (challenges) within two days and the teams will choose these tasks and thus the winner will be announced”, Rexha emphasizes.
Furthermore, Professor Rexha says that although the competition is very challenging and similar to international assessments known as PISA, Kosovo has made good preparations and expects a dignified performance.
“This is a knowledge championship and we have lowered our expectations, because since it is a knowledge championship like PISA, we expect to rank better than in PISA this year. We have made all the preparations, training with a professional team, trainers and professors and together with other actors in this field we have selected the best of Kosovo. The trainings have started from the end of May until now, almost every two weeks trainings in the workshop and then from the end of August we start with intensive trainings so that by October 6th we are more than prepared for the European Cybersecurity Championship”, he points out.
Among the representatives of the Kosovo team is the third-year student at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Diella Kika.
Kika has expressed her dedication and the path she has followed to be part of this team.
She also revealed which competitions she participated in as a representative of Kosovo on the European team in the Asian competition and at Iowa State University.
“Cybersecurity has always attracted me as a field because it requires dedication every time and is a very interesting field of computing. I have also participated in other competitions besides this one of the Kosovo Cyber Team that has helped me a lot to prepare to enter the Kosovo team, such as the competition with Iowa State University, where the team I was part of took first place in the region and fourth in the entire organized competition. Recently, I participated in the Asian competition that was held between continents where I was part of the European team, for the first time a representative comes from Kosovo”, Kika expressed.
The European Cyber Security Challenge is an annual international event initiated by ENISA – the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity. It brings together outstanding European talents in the field of cybersecurity up to the age of 25, not excluding other international ‘guest’ countries. /A. Shala/
