Norwegian broadcaster NRK has confirmed that the country won’t be coming back to Junior Eurovision in 2025.

Norway is the latest country to confirm that it will not be participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The broadcaster confirmed to Eurofestivales, that they would not return to the contest without a selection format in place. NRK previously held MGPjr annually before cancelling the show in 2022.

Norway last participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, when Malin Reitan came third with “Sommer og skolefri”, Norway’s best result in the contest. Norway was one of the original 16 countries to take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and hosted the 2004 contest in Lillehammer. Norway also took part in MGP Nordic alongside Denmark, Sweden and Finland in 2002 and from 2006 to 2009.

Junior Eurovision 2025

Junior Eurovision 2025 will be held on December 13 in Tbilisi after Andria Putkaradze gave Georgia their record-breaking fourth victory with “To My Mom”.

A number of countries have either confirmed their participation in Junior Eurovision 2025 or signaled their intention to compete. These countries are:

Estonia and Germany have both withdrawn from the competition. The following broadcasters have confirmed they have no plans to return:

Norway competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest between 2003 and 2005. In 2004, Lillehammer hosted the contest which saw 18 countries compete in Norway. The country’s best result came in 2005 when Malin finished 3rd with “Sommer og skolefri” scoring 123 points.
