PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is believed to have been speeding before losing control of his car, resulting in a fiery crash into a Phoenix business late Sunday.
Around 10 p.m., first responders were called to a crash near 15th Avenue and Grant Avenue, just south of Jefferson Street, where a vehicle reportedly went into a business.
As the officers were heading to the scene, they learned that a fire had started in the area of the collision and had spread to the business.
Phoenix police say they believe the driver, identified as 25-year-old Jose Antonio Valenzuela Cota, was driving fast when he lost control of his car and struck a building on the south side of the road.

Phoenix firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames before pulling Cota out of the vehicle. He died at the scene.
At this point, detectives are still working to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
