Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that a total of 32 people have been arrested in the country on suspicion of collaborating with Russian intelligence services.
The statement was made during a government meeting, where the head of government emphasized the growing risk posed by Russian influence to Poland’s national security and the stability of the region.
According to Polish authorities, those arrested are suspected of participating in various activities that include the collection and transmission of sensitive information, sabotage of infrastructure, and pro-Russian propaganda.
Police and security services have carried out numerous raids in various cities across the country, seizing communications equipment, documents, and other materials that could prove collaboration with Russian secret services.
One case that has attracted particular attention is that of a Colombian citizen, who was allegedly recruited by Moscow to organize and carry out arson attacks on several shopping malls in Poland.
This individual, according to preliminary investigations, may have been part of a wider network coordinated by Russian intelligence to destabilize the country and create panic among the public.
Prime Minister Tusk has emphasized that his government will continue to resolutely fight against foreign interference and espionage activities, strengthening cooperation with international partners and increasing internal security.
He also called on citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could endanger Poland’s national interests. /Telegraph/
