Tonight, on Debat Plus, the series of shows “The Silence That Kills – The True Cry of War” continues exclusively.
The survivor of sexual violence has decided to tell her story in this emotionally charged account of the horror experienced by Serbian forces.
“The worst act, they kicked us, they knocked us down, we didn’t know what they were saying to us in Serbian, they cursed, where is the KLA, they beat and knocked our children down because of our anger, they left nothing undone,” she recounts.
But, this is not all, and her misfortune was greater because she experienced rape by Serbian forces along with many women and in the presence of children.
“We were all women, it was like a school hall, they came in, some were wearing headscarves, some had painted faces, some were wearing black clothes and they told us to undress, we tried not to undress, they cut our clothes with knives. There was no telling how many thousands of people were there, because they were from all the villages, there were children, at one point they started taking our children away,” she recounts.
She says she forgot herself and the horror she witnessed because she wasn’t the only one who was raped.
“They raped our daughters, my children were raped, both my son and daughter,” is her shocking story.
“We were raped once in front of the children, and the girl came crying after me, they cut her leg and arm, while the children were crying when they saw that the child was not stopping, they sent them to the classrooms, there were many young children. They took them, they brought them back, but they raped them so bloody, we could only grab a sheet and cover ourselves because we felt bad,” she says, shocked.
The tragedy did not stop. Serbian forces raped the entire family, including her husband.
“Once, men came, and I even had my husband raped. I saw it all, they raped us in front of everyone, men, women, children, they had bottles of brandy with them, they were holding knives and saying we were going to cut ourselves with knives,” the survivor of sexual violence tells “Debat Plus” about the crimes she suffered at the hands of military and police forces.
