Albanian publicist Ben Andoni speaks of a lack of awareness in the political sphere in Kosovo about the danger he says threatens the country.

He said last night that he believes that “Kosovo is honestly in danger” and that the ground for it is mostly being laid by the political situation in the country.

With the impasse in the Assembly, Andoni said that Kosovo politics has shown that “this is not the final destination” and that “there will be worse destinations than this.”

“What’s worse than that is that the life of the country is paralyzed,” he said on A2CNN.

He recalled that “Kosovo is still reported by foreigners twice to the Security Council.”

“If before you had interpretations from the Russian delegation and other delegations that were against Kosovo’s independence, today they have evidence,” Andoni said.

Andoni sees a danger in relation to resolution 1244 adopted on June 10, 1999 by the Security Council, which defines Kosovo’s political status as a UN protectorate.

“I have something I want to share with you regarding resolution 1244. Not because of the current situation, but also because of the situation before, resolution 1244 is increasingly entering Serbia’s diplomatic discourse,” he said.

Andoni also said that the 1999 Kumanovo Agreement, which obliged Serbia to withdraw its police and military forces from Kosovo, is “being affected.”

“It is only a garnish, because the essence is the Kumanovo Agreement, and the Kumanovo Agreement has begun to be affected. It has begun to be explained, interpreted in new conditions.”

Thus, he said, the north and “the independence part of Kosovo” would be endangered.

“I hope not, but the events that have unfolded later make me increasingly believe that Kosovo is truly in danger,” Andoni said.

He said that “in Kosovo it seems like they still don’t believe that they are independent, that they are a state.”
