The rise in the price of coffee in Kosovo may continue

The price of coffee in recent months, especially since the official increase in electricity prices, has only increased.
The manager of the “Metropol” cafe in the center of Pristina, Mentor Berisha, told Ekonomia Online that although the price of coffee has increased as a result of the increase in the price of electricity, this increase has also been influenced by the increase in the price of coffee itself. He recalls that it is not only coffee that has become more expensive, but also other products served in the gastronomy sector.
“Because of electricity, the first factor we had was the factor of increasing electricity prices, the price of coffee also had an impact. So, we have two factors that are pushing us to constantly increase the price of coffee. But now we have the price of coffee increased. If the price increase continues, we must change, not only the price of coffee, but of all products. Now we have increased the price of coffee by 25 to 30 percent,” he said.
He added that he does not see the trend of increasing coffee prices stopping there and that the price of coffee has increased from one euro to one and a half euros.
“Since June, it has been falling, because electricity has also increased quite a lot and this trend is continuing, it is not stopping, because even in July, the price of coffee per kilogram has increased by 3-4 percent on the stock exchange. It is not that this affects us much, but also the price of electricity, and it is a little difficult these days. We had one euro and we made it 1.50”, Berisha told Ekonomia Online.
