EU: The path to the European Union passes through the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue

The European Union has reaffirmed its commitment as a mediator in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, emphasizing that it is working intensively with both sides towards a comprehensive agreement that addresses all outstanding issues.
This reaction from Brussels comes after the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, who, in a conversation with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vučić, emphasized the importance of the Kosovo-Serbia talks and the implementation of the agreements reached.
“The EU expects Serbia and Kosovo to swiftly fulfil their commitments to the Dialogue, given the direct link between the normalisation of relations and EU membership prospects,” a statement from the European Commission’s press office said.
European officials stressed that following the last meeting of chief negotiators in June, the EU remains ready to organize the next round of dialogue as soon as the parties signal their readiness to meet, whether at a technical or political level.
The statement notes that “the path to the EU for both parties passes through the Dialogue facilitated by the European Union”, adding that the implementation of the agreed agreements is key to their advancement in the European integration process./rtk
